If you looked at grand houses like Dalton Estate in 2011, chances are that they would be very different to how it is shown on the forum. For one, having a team of servants seems to be rather an Edwardian idea. At the end of the day, this is just a game and so it's not the end of the world if details don't quite match up properly.
To put it in its simplest form, Dalton Estate is an Edwardian house brought into modern day. This makes things far less complicated and you won't have to worry about finding old-fashioned clothes for your Polyvore sets. Pretty much anything goes, providing it's realistic of course. You wouldn't see a housemaid sitting around in Versace while she's on her iPad.
The house will still look quite old-fashioned in the sense that there won't be leather sofas or a huge plasma-screen television in the drawing room. Technology isn't a huge thing in the house and is only really for the aristocrats. A simple landline telephone can be found in the butler and housekeeper's offices and that's about as far as gadgets go downstairs. The family may have appropriate technology such as a mobile phone or a music player but this should be used sparingly. They're very concerned with looking elegant and sophisticated; that means they're unlikely to be lounging around with headphones in, so please consider this whilst posting, thank you.
